Palm Springs So. Cal. Chapter Tour
March 12th, 13, 14 and 15th, 2009


The Southern California Chapter and ASC members will again be having a multi day car tour. The group will be invitees to a few personal  car collections and also a few surprises. Saturday afternoon we will be having the BBQ at Frank Wenzels' home. Please note flyer below!

THURSDAY *** 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Registration and Hospitality Room open at the meet hotel.

                             6:00 PM - 8:00 PM:   HOSTED Welcome Reception at the Juana Java Cafe, 677 East Mingus Avenue, Cottonwood. Closed to 

                        the public. Staff will cater a variety of delicious desserts. Plan to have supper someplace before or after.

                             8:00 PM - 12:00 PM:  Hospitality Room open at the meet hotel.

FRIDAY   8:00 AM - 1:00 PM Registration and Hospitality Room open at the meet hotel.

1:00 PM Tour to the Clemenceau Heritage Museum, 1 North Willard, Cottonwood. Verde Valley history is depicted through a model railroad, home interior and school house.

2:00 PM Tour to Old Town Cottonwood. Park together and enjoy antique and specialty shops and maybe a bite. 4:00 PM Tour to the Tuzigoot National Monument, Clarkdale and enjoy the Sinagua Indian Village built between 1125 and 1400. Bring your GOLDEN AGE PASS.

5:30 PM Tour to the Blazin' M Ranch, 1875 Mayberry Ranch Road, Cottonwood. Enjoy all the old frontier town has to offer. Then an all-you-can-eat cowboy supper of chicken, beef, beans, potatoes, applesauce and watch out for the flying biscuits. After supper relax with the Blazin' M Cowboys and their harmony, comedy and real cowboy music. Make reservations early at 800 937 8643. Seating is limited and we want to eat together: AARP/AAA $29.65.

SATURDAY   9:30 AM Tour leaves the meet hotel for the Gold King Mine, Jerome, Arizona and joins the American Truck Historical Society Annual  
     Antique Truck Show. Explore gold and copper mines and the ghost town featuring a hundred and fifty old vehicles including ten 
     Studebakers in their work clothes, two saw mills, a bordello, dentist office, school house,
blacksmith, service station, livery stable. gift shop
     and critters of all sorts. Gold King Mine is the creation of colorful ASC member Don Robertson featured in the ''Saguaro Sage". 
    Lunch is on your own in the infamous frontier
mining town of Jerome where you will find an eclectic combination of art, antiques, 
     crafts persons, lore and characters.


    6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Awards Banquet and Auction at Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 705 E Aspen St., Cottonwood. Open
    bar. Don't forget to bring an auction donation and support the auction to help defray the cost of this meet.

                     9:00 PM - 1 1:00 PM Hospitality Room open at the meet hotel.

SUNDAY        8:00 AM -12:00 NOON Swap Meet in the parking lot at the meet hotel.
 

     12:00 NOON Tour leaves the meet hotel for the Verde Canyon Railway, 300 North Broadway, Clarkdale. Be aboard by    
       1:00 PM sharp for the historic Wilderness Route from Clarkdale to Perkinsville and back through Arizona's "Other
Grand Canyon". 
      Reservations at 800 293 7245. $49.95 is the senior coach rate. Book early. This train will sell out.
